Angling Rules
Our rules redesigned to put fish safety as the main priority, whilst giving anglers the best chance of landing the fish. With catfish present these rules give the angler the best chance of landing everything they hook! Complicated rigs are not necessary at Woodpecker Pool, basic rigs work extremely well for all species.
Hook, Line and Rigs
- Barbless hooks only, short shank wide-gape in size 6 or 4 recommended
- No treble or circle hooks
- No wire traces
- No braided mainlines, except on marker or spod
- Minimum 15lb breaking strain
- Coated braided hook links only, such as Kryston Mantis, Suffix Sheath Skin, or Korda N-Trap, 25lb minimum
- No chod or helicopter rigs
- No zig rig or surface fishing
- Tubing, Safezone leader, or lead core must be used at all times
- All leads and beads must be able to easily pass over all knots in the case of a rig being lost
- 3oz maximum lead weight
Fish Care and Handling
- No carp sacks or keepnets
- All anglers must have carp care with them, such as Klinic, Medicarp, or Korda Carp Care kit
- Landing nets, cradles and slings are provided and must be used, do not bring your own
- Remove all watches or bracelets before handling fish
- All fish to be return to the lake as quickly as possible
- Fish are to be photographed kneeling down with the fish over the cradle, never stand up holding a fish
- Fish are to be returned to the water from the sling, allow time for the fish to recover especially grass carp
- Never weigh a fish in a landing net
- All fish to be carried to and from the water in a sling
Bait
- No particle baits
- No nuts
- No dog food supplements, for example Vitalin
- Sweetcorn is allowed
- No plastic or artificial baits
General Angling Rules
- No angler to be more than 15 metres from their rods
- 3 rod limit per angler, maximum of 6 rods fishing
- Baitboats are allow
- No other boats to be brought to site
- On site boat is available for use at the anglers own risk, we accept no liability for accidents involving the boat
- No fixed markers, for example H-Blocks
- Do not block driveway access to the accommodation, access could be required at any time
- All children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times
General Rules
- If you plan to having visitors during your stay, we must be informed before you holiday commences
- Never leave any litter around the lake, including line, hooks, or cigarette butts
- Use the bins provided at all times
- Glass bottles and jars must be taken to a recycling point before you depart
- All naked flames are banned due to the wild-fire risk. Candles and barbeques are therefore also banned.
- Electricity generators are not allowed; the accommodation has sufficient power for your stay
- Never remove overhanging branches from trees
- No firearms of any description are allowed on site. If you break this rule you will be asked to leave immediately with no refund
- All bedding to be used in the accommodation only
- No illegal substances or drugs are allowed on site. If you break this rule you will be asked to leave immediately with no refund
- Alcohol is allowed in moderation
- Please keep noise to a reasonable level; the lake is set close to other residential properties and we must be responsible neighbours
Breaking or bending of any of these rules could result in your holiday be terminated immediately without a refund.
